Although the weather has turned cold and wintry again now, last week had seen some calm, mild and sunny days which made for good fishing. During the middle of the day there has been noticeable hatches of black buzzers, most of which are quite large and a size 12-10 would be around the right sized immitation. The majority of the fish are quite high up in the water, around 3-4ft down and they are very quick to switch onto the hatches of buzzers and make the most of them.
Ryan Roy Creighton of Belfast enjoyed an excellent days fishing, Ryan caught and released ten fish between 3-5lb and took all of his fish on Buzzers. Steven Mulviny from Lisburn managed a few hours out fishing and caught 7 fish all on Buzzers and Black Spiders. Although naturals are working well some anglers are still catching well on lures, B.Johnson took 13 fish in 3 hours on orange lures.
Brookhall regular Brian Fleming enjoyed a cracking days sport, Brian chopped and changed between lures and buzzers and managed 17 fish, the largest being around 7-7.5lbs, all were released.
Although it is still very early in the season a few fish are actively feeding from the surface in the evening and those prepared to stick it out fishing dries will take a fish or two.
