Despite the cold, wet and generally miserable weather this week the lake remains ice-free and is fishing well with a lot of fish in the 2.5-3lb range being caught. Even though the weather hasn't been the best the fish don't seem to mind as they are holding fairly close to the surface with floating and intermediate lines being the best choice all week.
Catches of note this week are as follows, Ballynahinch angler Billy Kidd had a good day out fishing small flies on a floating line, he landed 17 fish all on Millenium Bugs and Silver Hares Ear Nymphs. Michael Brown of Belfast was another enjoying sport on a floating line, he had 14 fish in his session all caught on a Green Sparkler.
Brookhall regular Liam Burns of Lisburn enjoyed yet another good days sport, Liam also had 14 fish and caught them all on patterns that have been working well this week, a White Nomad and a Pinkie. Alan Coleman of Warringstown had 16 fish during his session, Alan was using the same two flies, the White Nomad and Pinkie. Ian Hutchings is another angler enjoying a good run, this time catching 11 fish all on a Cats Whisker. Black flies are also catching well though, Paul Short proving this by taking his 6 fish on Black Nomads and Ace of Spades.
Another reminder of our upcoming competition, this is taking place on Sunday 21st february between 10.00am and 3.30pm. Everyone is welcome and lunch will be provided. Please see the home page for details and we hope to see you there.
