Brookhall Fishery Report-Week Ending 31st January 2010 (January 31, 2010)
Good news, despite the temperature dropping below freezing some nights the lake is open and fishing well!

The fish seem to have benefited from the break over the Christmas period due to the bad weather as some nice sized and conditioned fish are being caught and a lot of them are falling to natural patterns. Damsel Nymphs, Buzzers, Crunchers and Diawl Bachs are all fishing well although lures fished slowly such as Cats Whiskers, Nomads, Pinkies and Blobs have all taken their fair share of fish. On the milder days there have been small hatches of Buzzers around midday when the temperature warms slightly.

Derek Spry of Cumbria enjoyed a good day, fishing a Goldhead damsel pattern on a floating line he managed 14 nice fish. Jim Armstrong of Maghaberry, a regular at Brookhall, was another angler to have a good days fishing using small natural patterns. Jim was fishing a small black nymph on an intermediate line and took 11 fish throughout the day. Top rod this week though was Lisburn angler Ian Hutchings, Ian finished his day with 21 fish and the majority of these fell to small Cruncher patterns fished on an intermediate line although he did also take a couple of fish on a Cats Whisker. The other notable point was all of Ians fish were between 2.5 and 3.5lbs, the better fish seem to be showing more regularly in all of the catch returns.

Finally, due to the success of our last competition at Brookhall we have decided to run another and anyone is welcome. We plan on having a friendly competition on Sunday the 21st February 2010 as per the poster below. Places will be limited and you can get your names down for it by either phoning myself or Cathryrn or you can use the contact us form on the website.

Hope to see some of you there
Many thanks

Kenny
