Brookhall Fishery Report - Week Ending 21st June 2009
(June 23, 2009)
We expected the fishing to be hard this week with the extremely hot, sunny weather but surprisingly the fish are still very active and feeding with good bags still being caught, the aerators being on and oxygenating the water is helping. On Friday three Armagh anglers Peter Duffy, Philip Duffy and G Thomas had a combined total of over one hundred fish with the majority on buzzers and dries.
On Monday George Orr from Armagh landed an outstanding 30 fish despite the burning sunshine at times. George fished buzzers on an intermediate line with an extremely slow retrieve and his fish ranged from 2lb to 5lb.
Jim Bassett from Lisburn had over 40 fish on Saturday on dry flies and suspender buzzers. The lake is fishing extremely well and the water level has remained high thanks to the underground spring.
Dry flies have been very effective and especially CDC Emergers and suspender buzzers. Hares Ear Nymphs, Bloodworm, Pheasant Tail Nymphs, buzzers, Lures - especially Black, Cats Whiskers and Olive or Black Zonkers. The fishery is open for evening sessions until dark so why not give the dries a go one evening, hang on until the sun is well down and the rise will start..............you won't be disappointed.
Some of this weeks top flies

Hope to see some of you there.
