Brookhall Fishery report - Week Ending 14th June 2009
(June 15, 2009)Dry flies and small buzzers have been working exceptionally well again this week with some great sport to be had off the top of the water especially in the evenings.
Some spectacular evening rises saw anglers fishing till dark and anglers using imitative patterns are catching large bags of fish.
Plenty of fish have been falling to dry flies, klinkhammers, Shipmans, CDCs or emergers, with black being the most productive colour for this week. The size of fly has changed from day to day with 12s being successful on one day, then 14s the next. The way the flies are fished has equally been important, with a static fly being more successful one day and a moving fly the next.
For those anglers wanting to fish buzzers, the colour has also been black or dark olive, fished at around 18". As with dry flies, some days the trout want it static, while on others some movement is more productive.

Anglers fishing lures have taken fish on a variety of colours and flies with no particular pattern being the top fly.
However, in recent days, trout have shown a lot of interest in a Yellow Dancer or a Yellow/White Fritz. Bloodworms continue to work well with the best colours being Black, Olive or Pink (Pinkie).
Finally, we plan to hold a few competitions with barbeques over the summer period. Details to follow but if you would like to register an interest or if you would like to be contacted with the full details please use the “ Contact us” form above.
