This week again has been warm and bright, with the sun keeping the fish down deeper during the day, great weather for sunbathing but not so
good for us anglers. This has seen the fish go mad in the evenings though when the sun drops below the trees and the dry fly sport is still brilliant.
good for us anglers. This has seen the fish go mad in the evenings though when the sun drops below the trees and the dry fly sport is still brilliant. Anglers have still been enjoying good sport fishing during the day with sinking lines and lures, or Diawl Bach’s and Buzzers deep.
Paddy Timoney from Lisburn caught his bag limit on tiny black buzzers and dries. Paddy pictured right with a fish of 6lb 3 caught on a size 16 black buzzer. Well done Paddy.
Reece Carberry from Belfast christened his new rod on Sunday catching and landing 3 fish with just a few words of advice from Brookhall regular Stuart McAllister.

Good to see youngsters out fishing and enjoying it so much.
Many thanks to all the anglers that have been on hand supporting and encouraging the younger anglers and we are pleased to say the list of lady anglers is growing every week.

Generally size 10 or 12 Buzzers or Nymphs in black, olive or apple green have been working well. Cats Whiskers, Minkies and Fritz type lures have worked well also in black or white with some lime/green colour in them somewhere. For the dry flies, anything size 14 or smaller and light in colour will take fish. Something along the lines of a Grey Duster, Hares Ear Suspender Buzzer or a light coloured CDC will all work. Don’t forget if in doubt ask at the lodge what has been working and we will be more than happy to pass on any information.
Lee McAllister from Lisburn had an excellent days fishing dispite the very sunny conditions on Sunday. Lee caught 9 mainly on buzzers and enjoyed beating his brother Stuart in a mini competiton they have between one another. Well done Lee.

The fly life at the lake has become a discussion point with the regulars and this picture was taken on Sunday at the lake. We can't quite decide if its Caenis.
