Fishing is still very consistent despite the hot and bright weather conditions (Brookhall has aerators running during the warm weather)
During the warmest parts of the day the fish will drop deep into cooler water so the top end of the lake is worth a try with sinking lines and lures or buzzers fished deep.

Don’t forget to stay on for the last hour or so of sunlight in the evenings though, with dry fly sport excellent at the minute. A lot of the big resident fish are showing and readily taking dry flies, but are proving difficult to actually keep

on the hooks.
On Friday Paul Cinnamon caught 22 fish on buzzers while Gary Edwards from Belfast had 34 fish and returned on Saturday and caught another 47, mostly on buzzers. A pretty amazing catch rate considering the weather.

Paddy Timoney (right) from Lisburn caught his bag limit on tiny black buzzers and dries of his own tying.
Stuart McAllister from Belfast had a brilliant days sport on Sunday catching 18 including a terrific fish and a personal best of 8lb 6ozs .
Friends James Farrell and Ryan Crothers from Lisburn enjoyed soaking up the sun on Saturday whilst also bagging plenty of fish between them. James finished with 12 fish, some on a sinking line with a black and green lure and the rest on a floating line with a black and red holographic buzzer. Ryan finished up with 7 fish including a 3 1/2 lb Rainbow . 5 of Ryan’s fish came to a cats whisker on an intermediate line and the rest using blobs on a floating line. Well done lads – keep at it.

Fly life at the lake is in full swing as you can see by these photos taken on Saturday night.
The buzzers shown are big and the main colours Black, dark olive and apple green, probably best represented with a size 10 or 12 buzzer imitation.

There are also plenty of daddy longlegs around now so fishing with a dry daddy longlegs imitation is well worth a go.

One or two summer competitions are in the pipeline, details of which will be announced here in the very near future.
