This week has seen some fantastic fishing with catch returns well into double figures.
On the cooler days anglers have sometimes had to fish a little deeper with intermediate lines and lures such as the Cats Whisker, Black Fritz and Zonkers with a slow retrieve all doing well. During days when the temperature has warmed slightly there have been some big hatches of larger black and olive buzzers and also the apple green buzzers, buzzer patterns to match have been taking a lot of fish. As the weather has improved and the nights are warmer the evening rise is now in full swing and anglers have been enjoying phenomenal sport as the sun drops down a bit. CDC’s, Shipmans, Klinkhammers and even Daddy Longlegs imitations have all been taking numbers of fish.
Stephen Allison from Carrickfergus had an excellent days fishing catching 50 fish on buzzers and cormorants, the largest weighed in at 7lb 6 oz. Kevin Millar had 21, Harry Moffat from Carrickfergus had 33 and Gary Edwards had 41.
Sunday saw Stuart Allister with 14 mainly to a cats whisker and Francis Hackett from Lisburn had 9 trout mainly on blobs and buzzers.
